Shiloh's History*

Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church has been a staple in the community for over 100 years. We give thanks to God the Father, our Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. Praying always that we will know His peace, feel His love, trust in His hope and experience His joy and rest. "And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who are called according to His purpose."

~ Rom 8:28

In October 2022, Rev. McClendon retired and is currently serving as Pastor Emeritus. He and his devoted wife, Lois, have been married since 1968. They have two sons, a daughter-in-law, and a grandson, who continue to serve in ministry.

A few of his many accomplishments:

In April 1998, under his leadership, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for the new church building. In the same year, Rev. Edward Hobson was appointed as the Assistant Pastor, where he served 4 years.

In 1999, the mortgage was paid off for the land on which the new church was built.

On Sunday, July 23, 2003, a dedication service was held for the new church building and two years later, the construction contractor was paid off.

In 2006, Rev. James Feazell, Jr. was ordained and appointed as the Assistant Pastor. In the same year, the 12-Step Christian Recovery ministry was established and Shiloh became a member of the Justice Ministry “Faith and Action Strength Together (F.A.S.T.).”  Together with congregations from all over Pinellas County, the organization challenged local governments to heed the call to display justice.

In 2008, the property to the east of the church was purchased. The church was blessed with four portable buildings to be used to serve God’s people. In the same year, the southwest wing of the church was dedicated as the “Willie D. McClendon, Jr. Education Wing.”

During Rev. McClendon’s tenure well over 500 members joined the church.

In 2022, Rev. McClendon retired and Rev. Edward “Bebe” Hobson was installed as the Senior Pastor. Rev. Hobson recognized Rev. McClendon as having paid off the church mortgage.
